ONCE UPON A PIE… PIE BAKING COMPETITION & AUCTION
Get those measuring spoons and mixing bowls ready… and your taste buds! On November 15th, pie bakers and their fans are invited to Stark Hall on Church Street where the Friends of the Goffstown Public Library will host a pie baking competition & auction. The event is open to amateur as well as professional bakers and the Friends are expecting an evening of delicious fun and fundraising.
‘Tis the season to be thinking of homemade goodness and comfort food. Sandy Whipple, Adult Services and Outreach coordinator, who introduced the idea to the Friends, said “This event is going to be a blast… people can come and enjoy a taste of locally baked goodness and a cup of coffee for only $1, and then the fun will really begin when we see who bids on the winning entries!” “I’ve heard patrons talking about this at the library already… planning recipes and gearing up for the competition…” said Sharon Archambault, Inter-Library Loan/Circulation Assistant.
Entrants should deliver their pies between 11am – 1pm to Stark Hall. Judging will take place during the afternoon by local luminaries and at 6:30 pm, the doors will open for everyone to return with friends & family to enjoy a slice of pie and a cup of coffee for only $1. Winning pies in each category will be sold to the highest bidder!
Download enterpie.pdf entry form, visit the Goffstown Library website at: Goffstown Library, or stop by the library. People can also donate a store bought pie for this Friends of the Library fundraiser (those won’t be judged), or just come along, enjoy some delicious local baking and see whose pie gets sold for the most! Proceeds from the event enable the Friends of the Goffstown Public Library to: continue sponsorship of many of the free and discounted museum and aquarium passes available to Library cardholders, help with children's programs, sponsor events, and advocate the use of our Public Library. If you have questions, or would like to volunteer to help out at the event, please call the Goffstown Public Library at 497-2102.
