The Goffstown Edge Celebrates 100,000 Hits!

I am delighted to announce that the Goffstown Edge has just surpassed 100,000 page visits! The Edge is now averaging over 200 visits a day, with many days topping 300 and 400.  A great big THANK YOU to all the neighbors who have supported the Edge since Dave Suitor and I opened it in November of 2007.  Thank you for your support and enthusiasm!  Keep those stories and photos coming.

The Goffstown Edge is actually a blog, and it's possible to sign up for an RSS feed right through the web site.  An RSS feed sometimes stands for "Really Simple Syndication, because it's an easy and private way to read your favorite headlines.  Whenever new content is added to the Goffstown Edge your RSS feed will automatically send you a simple email with the new headlines listed, and including the first two sentences of every new article.  This is a much more efficient way of selecting which stories you want to read.  Without the pictures and advertisements, the email will load onto your computers more quickly, which will be great for those readers still using dial-up.  You will not miss any content, you will not have your email box clogged with Goffstown Edge mail every day, and your email address will remain private.  Look for the box at the top of the left column on the home page- just drop in your email address, then watch for the authorization in your email.

Goffstown Edge Surpasses 85,000 Page Hits!

Well, well, well- blew through the 85,000 page hits and are on the way to 100,000!!!

A big thank you to the hundreds who signed up for the new RSS feed that is sent automatically whenever the Goffstown Edge is updated.  I've received quite a few emails on how much simpler this system is, quicker to download and easier to find the stories you are interested in.  If you are new to the Goffstown Edge, just drop your email address into the box at the top of the left column, and then watch for your confirmation email.  You will receive an RSS email approximately twice a week, whenever new content is added to the home page.

A note:  the Goffstown Edge strongly urges the community to sign up for Nixle public service announcements.  You will not find the Goffstown Edge delivering storm or flooding updates, school closings, etc.  The Goffstown and New Boston police departments have a very professional system that we encourage all community members to subscribe to.  First hand information is always the safest information.

In Spring of 2008, members of NH's Arts and Cultural Community came together to talk about how difficult it was to promote their events to all of NH's media companies. Every media company had their own calendar, with their own online form to complete. These theater groups, museums, and individual artists did not have the resources to get to them all. When NH's media companies heard about the problem, they came together to solve it. Together with a project called NewsTote, they opted for a one-stop calendar solution for the state's Arts & Cultural organizations, and any other organization that holds events in N.H. Now sports teams, theaters, non-profit groups, churches, garden clubs - everyone - can enter their event into one form on NH365.org and have it sent to events calendars around the state.

Thanks for a GREAT first month!

The Goffstown Edge is off to a terrific start!  2,300 page hits in March, our first full month as a community blog!  Thanks to the terrific participation of clubs and organizations, churches and schools in Pinardville, Goffstown, Dunbarton, and New Boston, we're growing and developing in amazing ways.  The Goffstown Edge now offers video, photo albums, and all sorts of download files like menus, calendars, and registration forms.  We're seeing hits from people outside the immediate area, who are anxious to come visit our community and our terrific businesses and restaurants.  The future is looking particularly bright, with all sorts of great events coming up like Old Home Day on June 7, and the summer concert series in Goffstown and New Boston.  There's the July 4 celebration in New Boston, and I know GMSP is already thinking about the Regatta in October!  You'll see the Goffstown Edge table everywhere this summer, handing out free lemonade and keeping the community up to date on why we all are so lucky to live at the EDGE of the miraculous!  Thanks!
