Start off the holiday season on a lighthearted and lively Celtic note. As traditional as the Irish jig inspiring their name, Cherish the Ladies carries the distinction of being the first all female traditional Irish band in the country. This amazingly talented Celtic phenomenon has become the most sought after band on the planet. Mariachi De Los Camperos
Break out the sombreros! Music born south of the border comes to the Dana Center in full mariachi band fashion. Pioneer and leader of the Mariachi Renaissance in the United States and Mexico, Nati Cano and his band Los Camperos perform some of mariachi's most beloved songs with the vibrancy and intensity that distinguish them as one of the finest in the world. This is music that is at once brilliant in its exuberant, soaring sounds and impeccably authentic in its discipline and nuance of musical technique and form. New Art Theatre, a professional company dedicated to the performance of classical and innovative works, re-stages their critically acclaimed production of Oedipus Rex. The clarity and beauty of this contemporary translation by poet Stephen Berg and classicist Diskin Clay combines with New Art Theatre's dynamic array of visual and musical design techniques to capture the timeless power of Sophoclean drama for present day audiences in this greatest of all Greek tragedies, Oedipus the King.
