Babe Ruth Softball Registration

Goffstown Babe Ruth Softball is now accepting registrations for the upcoming softball season for residents of Goffstown and Dunbarton.
 
This year 4 divisions will be offered.
 
16 and under league [date of birth after January 1st,1995]
 
12 and under league [date of birth after January 1st,1999]
 
10 and under league [date of birth January 1st,2001]
 
8 and under league [Rookies with a date of birth after January 1st, 2003]
 
 
Registration forms are available at Maple Avenue School, Bartlett School, Mountain View Middle School, Dunbarton Elementary School and  Glen Lake School  or at our web site: goffstown.baberuthonline.com
 
Completed registration forms should be sent to Bruce Rand, 41 Center Street, Goffstown, NH 03045. Forms should be completed and returned by March 21, 2012.

Uptown Auto Repair vs. Apple Therapy
Uptown Girls won 19-16

Starting on the mound for Uptown Auto Repair was Alyiah Sharby who pitched a solid 4 innings allowing no score in the 3rd.  In relief  pitching, Kelley McArdle threw great pitches, allowing the fielders to do their job. Becky Hardy was solid behind the plate, catching the entire game making some great grabs.

Fielding for Uptown Auto Repair, Briannah Rivard was hot on short stop throwing down for many outs. Kim Hamel played excellent first base, keeping Apple players from getting on base.

Uptown Auto bats were on fire, every player got on base. Base hits were achieved by Becky Hardy who hit a single and scored once, Aliyah Sharby who hit a double and scored twice, Lindsey Lord who hit a double and scored once, Kim Hamel who hit a single and a double and scored once, Danielle Stanton-Turcotte who hit a triple and 2 singles and scored once, Kelley McArdle who hit 2 singles and scored twice,  Makayla Bourgeois who hit 2 singles and scored three times, Maya Gilmore who hit 2 singles and scored twice, and Peyton Moody who hit two singles and scored once. Also getting to base on balls was Briannah Rivard who scored twice, Alexis Dowd who scored once, Joyce Davis who scored twice, and Liz St. Onge who got struck out at the last second while making a sneaky steal for 2nd base.

For Apple Therapy, pitching duties were shared by Jill Zelinsky, Alyssa Noonan, and Sidney Elithorpe. Behind the plate were Sidney Elithorpe and Jade Erlman, with Jade catching 3 solid innings.
 
Batting for Apple Therapy, Hannah Gifford had a pair of doubles with 4 RBI,Ashleigh Hartnett had 2 hits and Eryn Daly had an RBI single.

Uptown Auto Repair vs Chico’s Driving School
Tie game 16-16

Pitching for Uptown Auto Repair, Briannah Rivard allowed nothing in the first inning and gave up just one run in the third. Briannah shared pitching duties with Becky Hardy who allowed just one run in the 6th and final inning keeping the game at a tie. Catching duties were shared by Becky Hardy and Alexis Dowd, both of whom were on fire behind the plate, letting nothing get by them.
Fielding for Uptown Auto Repair, Kim Hamel and Danielle Stanton-Turcotte were a fierce first and third base combination getting many outs. Alyia Sharby, Kelley McArdle, Lindsey Lord and Maya Gilmore also all worked hard in the field to prevent Chico’s from scoring runs.
Uptown Auto Repair bats were kept quiet for the most part with many walks scoring runs. Briannah Rivard had a base hit Alyiah Sharby and Kelley McArdle both hit doubles.
Lindsey Lord made Goffstown Babe Ruth Softball history in this game by hitting the first ever Grand Slam out of the park Home Run in the history of the league, clearing a bases-loaded situation and allowing Uptown Auto Repair the lead for that inning.

Edward Jones Bedford vs Huntley McKenna
Edward Jones Bedford won 13-8

Kaylee Chouinard pitched 2 strong innings for Edward Jones Bedford striking out 3 batters and allowing only 4 runs.  Abby Flegal pitched the 3rd inning and did not allow a run.  Taylor Lavallee pitched the 4th and 5th inning for the Jones team striking out 2 and allowing 4 runs.  The combined effort was the one of the best pitching performances this year for Edward Jones Bedford. For Edward Jones Bedford, Jordyn Lavalle caught 3 innings and Kersten Daneau 2 innings.  In the 4th inning, Kersten tracked down a pass ball and beat the base runner trying to score from third and put the tag on the runner for the out.
The defense for the Jones team was very solid.  There were several unassisted put outs and the outfield hit their cut-offs to the infield.  The ladies played a very sound defense in this win.
Batting for Edward Jones Bedford, Kaylee Chouinard had 2 hits and reached base all four at bats and also scored four runs.  Taylor Lavallee had 2 extra base hits, driving in five runs and scored once for Jones.  Kersten Daneau had two hits and 2 RBI’s and scored once.  Raven Barriault walked twice and score twice for Jones.  

Pizza Market vs Brien Plumbing and Heating
Pizza Market won 5-3

Brien Plumbing was led on the mound by Emma Campbell and Lexi DeVinney, while Taylor Gagnon pitched all 6 innings for Pizza Market in the well-played game.
Olivia St. Jean did an outstanding job at catcher for Brien Plumbing, including throwing out a runner stealing second in the fifth inning to stop a rally.         
Alyssa Lombardi played well behind the plate throwing out a runner at third, another one going to second, and also throwing out a running coming home on a passed ball.
Jen Quigley played outstanding at first base catching everything thrown to her and making a couple of good fielding plays.  
Brien Plumbing was led by Zoe Desmarais with a hit and a walk and scoring once and Emma Campbell adding a hit and a walk as well.
Pizza Market was led by Taylor Gagnon with a hit and hit by pitch along with Ally Curran adding a hit and a walk.

Stillman’s Sports won 16-15
On the mound for Stillman’s Sports, Kaitlin Leduc delivered 3 strong innings striking out 6 and giving-up only 3 earned runs. Nicole Reid went 3 strong innings doing a good job of keeping everything in front of her. Fielding for Stillman’s Sports, Alexa Zenkiewizc helped her cause by completing a 1-3 play in the 3rd for the 1st out. Allison Lavallee had a 5-3 put in the 4th while Amber Davis had a 1-3 put out in the 5th. Kaitlin Leduc and Nicole Reid had a bang bang play recording the 2nd out of the 2nd with a tag out at the plate. At bat for Stillman’s Sports, Morgan Chase had a single in the 4th and # 5 Summer Cote went 2 for 3 with a single and a double. Scoring for Huntley-McKenna group Paige Labbe went 2-4 with 1 runs scored and 2 rbis. Rosie Melanson, Eva Troutman and Megan Purcell each scored 3 runs.

Brien Plumbing vs Edward Jones-Bedford
Brien Plumbing won 13-6
On the mound for Brien Plumbing, Alexia Devinney twirled 3 strong innings including a gritty bases loaded strikeout to end the 3rd inning. Aleshia Anderson caught 3 solid innings behind the plate and assisted on a drop 3rd strike put out. Olivia Gagne reached base safely in all 3 plate appearances and played solid defense at second base. Haley Reed blasted a single to drive in 2 runs. Becca Breckinridge, Taylor Brien and Zoe Desmarais all contributed to the offensive attack highlighted by Jen Quigley's break out game going 2 for 3 at the plate. Liz Tanner reached base all 3 times and made an unassisted put out at first base. Battery-mates Emma Campbell (P) and Olivia St. Jean (C) closed out the final 2 innings.



Pizza Market vs Stillman Sports           
Pizza Market won 9-6
On the mound for Pizza Market, Rebecca Zylak pitched the 1st three innings, allowing 4 runs on 2 hits.  Kendal Elithorpe pitched the remaining three innings, allowing two runs while recording five strike outs.   In the field for Pizza Market, Angeline Belanger had a strong game at second base, while Emily Holmes showed her diversity in the field playing multiple infield and outfield positions.

Pizza Market won 19-13

On the mound for Pizza Market, Taylor Gagnon, Kendal Elithorpe and Rebecca Zylak combined to pitch 4 strong innings, while striking out 8 batters.
Alyssa Lombardi had another solid game behind the plate, catching for all innings in this rain shortened contest.  Alyssa also made an outstanding play on an attempted bunt in the 2nd inning, jumping up quickly from behind the plate for the throw-out to first.

Rebecca Zylak, Taylor Gagnon and Allyson Curran led Pizza Market batters with multiple base hits.
     
Kaylee Chouinard started on the mound for Edward Jones Bedford and had 5 strikeouts in her 2 innings of work.  Sarah Allard and Johanna Osiecki each pitched an inning for Jones. Jordyn Lavallee and Kersten Daneau each had solid games behind the plate for Edward Jones Bedford.
   
In the field for Edward Jones Bedford, Taylor Lavallee had an assist from shortstop and a putout at first base.
   
Edward Jones loaded the bases in the first inning but were held to a single run.  They scored four in the second, three in the third and 5 in the fourth inning showing a strong comeback effort.  Taylor Lavallee scored 4 runs for Jones with two hits.  Johanna Osiecki, Kaylee Chouinard and Jordyn Lavallee each scored twice with one hit each.  Sarah Allard, Emily Stelman and Raven Barriault each walked and scored for Edward Jones Bedford.

Edward Jones Bedford Won 10-4
     
Kaylee Chouinard pitched 4 strong innings for Edward Jones Bedford striking out 6 batters and allowing only 4 runs.  Taylor Lavallee pitched the 5th inning for the Jones team striking out 2 and allowing no runs.  The combined effort was the best pitching performance this year for Edward Jones Bedford.  For Edward Jones Bedford, Jordyn Lavalle and Kersten Daneau again split the catching duties with Jordyn catching 3 and Kersten 2 innings.
   
In the second inning Kersten Daneau had a nice play on a ground ball at shortstop throwing the batter out at first.  Raven Barriault made a good catch of a fly ball to right field in the 3rd inning.  Jordyn Lavallee had three nice plays at first base for outs.

This was a terrific, balanced offensive game for the Edward Jones Bedford team.  Madeline Carlson score twice after reaching base three times.  Jordyn and Taylor Lavallee had a hit each and scored a run for Edward Jones Bedford.  Kersten Daneau had two hits and a run scored.  Maggie Perrin and Kaylee Chouinard each had a hit and scored.  
Today’s game was the first win for Edward Jones Bedford.  Nine different Jones base runners scored.

Huntley-McKenna Group won 19-10

On the mound for Huntley-McKenna, Paige Labbe pitched 3 innings giving up only 3 runs on 5 hits and striking out 4 batters.

At bat for Huntley_McKenna, Kaitlyn Benoit went 2-2 including a 3 run home run. She also scored 4 runs. Bailey Novakoski, Megan Purcell and Lindsay Radl each scored 3 runs.  
     
Edward Jones Bedford pitching was a team effort with Johanna Osiecki, Sarah Allard, Taylor Lavallee and Kaylee Chouinard each throwing an inning or more.  The team combined for five strike outs in a time limit game of five innings. Jordyn Lavallee and Kersten Daneau again split the catching duties.

Edward Jones Bedford played a good defensive game with solid efforts by all.  There was good postioning and backup and relays from the outfield showed marked improvement.
   
Kaylee Chouinard led Edward Jones Bedford with three hits and a run scored.  Jordyn Lavalle had two hits including an RBI triple and scored a run.  Madeline Carlson had a hit, a walk and scored twice for Jones.  Taylor Lavallee and Johanna Osiecki each had a hit and scored.  Abby Flegal, Kersten Daneau, Maggie Perrin and Raven Barriault each walked once and scored once.

Huntley McKenna won 11-9

For Huntley McKenna Paige Labbe pitched 2 innings striking out 6 batters.
Megan Purcell and Paige Labbe each scored 3 runs. Bailey Novakoski went 1-3 with 2 rbi’s. 

Kaylea Chouinard started on the mound for Edward Jones Bedford and went two innings.  She had a solid outing with a 1-2-3 second inning.  Sarah Allard tossed the third inning striking out one and Johanna Osiecki pitched the 4th and final inning as the game was called for darkness.
     .         
Edward Jones Bedford once again showed a solid catching core with Kersten Daneau and Taylor Lavallee each catching two innings.
   
The Defense for Edward Jones Bedford showed great improvement over the first game as there was nice backup by the outfield on all plays and the infield was rock solid with Johanna Osiecki, Taylor Lavallee and Maggie Perrin making nice plays with the gloves and throws for outs.  This was very evident in the 1-2-3 second inning.
   
Jordyn Lavallee and Kaylea Chouinard led Edward Jones Bedford each with a hit, two walks and two runs scored.  Abby Flegal also had a timely hit driving in two of the Edward Jones Bedford runs.  Madeline Carlson and Taylor Lavallee both reached base twice and also scored twice each.  Sarah Allard scored the other run for Edward Jones Bedford after she walked.

This game was evenly matched with both teams displaying good defense and offense.  Edward Jones Bedford battled back in the last inning scoring 5 runs and had good momentum prior to the game being called for darkness.

Stillman Sports vs Edward Jones         
12 -12 tie
   
For Stillman Sports Kaitlin Leduc pitched the 1st 3 innings of season turning a strong performance striking out 8 batters holding the opposition to 2 earned runs. Amber Davis turned in 2 good innings striking out 3 keeping the game close. Morgan Chase performed well in her season debut keeping the ball in front holding the apposing team to minimal base advance. Nicole Reid made her catching debut turning a solid performance with quick hands and great hustle.

For Stillman Sports Allison LaVallee made a great fielding stop at second on a sharply hit ball managing to get the runner out at 1st. Amber Davis made a nice 5th inning stop while pitching on a well hit grounder back up the middle. The play resulted in an out at 1st. All other team members showed poised and ready to play defense.
   
Lead off batter for Stillman Sports Lexi Wight turned in smart base running after getting walked on base 3 times. Kaitlin Leduc went 2 for 4 with a walk, single and a triple. Summer Cote went 2 for 3 with 2 singles. Maddie Amorelli reached base twice with a single and a walk. Kaylyn Paquette also had a good night reaching base three times with a walk and two base hits.

2011 Opening Day for Goffstown Babe Ruth Softball League

Saturday April 30th marked the fourth annual opening day ceremony for the Goffstown Babe Ruth Softball League at Goffstown High School. The 2011 team players, coaches, sponsors and board members were announced, as were the many volunteers who keep the league business running smoothly and make the season possible.


Allison Buckless sang The National Anthem, and the first pitch of the season was thrown by Phil Hardy. Phil has been involved with Goffstown Babe Ruth Softball for over seven years as a coach, manager and mentor, and he also previously coached Goffstown Junior Baseball. Phil is an excellent coach and mentor to the girls, providing superior guidance in honing their skills, and is always upbeat and positive no matter what the scoreboard says.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Phil has volunteered his time to build the deck at the GHS softball facility and make other improvements at both the GHS and MVMS softball facilities. Along with Phil, the league honored Don Hamel and Lenny Turcotte, the three of whom have presented a strong coaching unit for the past several years. Catching the honorary first pitch was Phil's daughter Becky Hardy, who has played Goffstown Babe Ruth Softball since she was 9 years old and played with Goffstown Junior Baseball before that.

GBRS thanks Phil for all the years he’s devoted to coaching our girls and helping them develop the skills needed to play softball at a competitive level.

As always many thanks go out to all of the volunteers who helped and continue to help with work on the ongoing operation, renovations and upgrades to the fields at Mountain View Middle School and Goffstown High School.
