Community Dog Licensing

The Goffstown Police Department wishes to remind residents that dogs four (4) months and older require a license to be purchased through the Town Clerks Office at 16 Main Street. These licenses must be renewed annually by May 1st of each year.
The cost of the dog license is as follows:
Altered dog - $6.50
Unaltered dog - $9.00
Senior Citizen owner - $2.00
Civil forfeiture may be assessed for unlicensed dogs at a fee of $25.00 per dog.

Community: National Take Back Initiative

The Goffstown Police Department announces another one day collaborative effort with federal, state, county and local law enforcement agencies to remove potentially dangerous substances from our households. This National Take-Back initiative will provide a unified opportunity for the public to surrender pharmaceutical substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction.
The 2008 National Survey on Drug Use and Health estimates there are 6.2 million current non-medical users of psychotherapeutic drugs in the United States. This survey further indicates there are more Americans abusing psychotherapeutics than cocaine, heroin, and hallucinogen abusers combined. Expired, unused, or unwanted controlled substances in our homes are a potential source of supply that fuel this abuse and are an unacceptable risk to public health and safety. Here in New Hampshire, 20% of high school students surveyed have reported the abuse of a prescription type medicine, without a prescription.

The Goffstown Police Department is requesting residents to support the cause by turning in their unwanted, unused or expired prescription medications for the purpose of disposal. This one day event will take place on Saturday, 10am to 2pm on Saturday April 28th at the Goffstown Police Department at 326 Mast Road in Goffstown. These unused prescription drugs will be turned over to the DEA for destruction. Advisory: Mast Road Drainage work - Expect delays.

The Goffstown Department of Public Works announces drainage work along Mast Road from Henriette Street to Laurier Street. Work in this area is expected to start March 28th, 2012 and end by April 18th, 2012. Mast Road will be open to all traffic, but minor delays may be encountered in the work zone approximately 7:00 am – 5:00pm. Two lanes of traffic flow will be accommodated during most of construction. Separate traffic alerts will be issued when the DPW moves to the next schedule work zone.

Community: The Goffstown PD invites you to join the i-Neighbors initiative at i-neighbors.org to stay informed of any police activity in your area.

The Goffstown Police Department continues to work on promoting safe neighborhoods and getting pertinent information out to members of the community. For months now, officers have been patrolling specific neighborhoods within their sector, in order to better acquaint the officers with the people living there and to allow citizens to get to know the officer and the department in a more personable way.

A new tool to assist officers in getting information out to their neighborhoods is called i-Neighbors. I-Neighbors is a social networking service that connects residents of geographic neighborhoods. The goal of this site is to help individuals and their communities organize, share information, and work together to address local problems. i-Neighbors was first launched nationwide in 2004. The site now serves thousands of neighborhoods across the United States and Canada.

The Goffstown Police Department has taken the initiative to create an i-Neighbors account for their target neighborhoods. The idea behind the program is to get people to join the program, which will allow officers to send out timely information regarding any police issues that may be going on in certain neighborhoods, such as burglaries, thefts from vehicles, or any other announcements that need to be made to the community. The i-Neighbors initiative is not designed to allow persons to make complaints to the police department for issues that are going on.

For the past week, officers have started to pass out information to their target neighborhoods to get people to join the network and to share information with their neighbors. Autism Recognition Night at Goffstown Police Dept.

Parents of autistic children and families afflicted with mental/medical health disabilities are invited to register their children with the Goffstown Police Department on Wednesday, November 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The registration process involved taking a photograph and some basic information about the child/family member and their family, which can be available to first responders in the event of an emergency.

This process is designed to help police officers and other first responders know where children and adults afflicted with autism or other mental/medical health disabilities live and where they might wander to in a time of crisis.

This is an open invitation to all families who feel that registering their famiy member may assist first responders.

Children and afflicted peopple being registered will also be able to check out the emergency vehicles and get acquainted with community first responders.
