The Greater Manchester Family YMCA located at 116 Goffstown Back Road
would like to extend an invitation to Goffstown residents to use their outdoor pool
beginning with its opening on Friday, June 19, 2009 through August 30, 2009.
The outdoor pool will be open from 6 – 8 p.m. on Fridays and from 12 – 5 p.m. on
Saturdays and Sundays. Everyone who uses the pool, residents and members alike,
are requested to sign in so that participant usage can be tracked.
If anyone has any questions they may call the YMCA at 497-4663.

Medical professor Dr. Joseph Chiang will discuss his experiences with alternative healing techniques during a lecture Wednesday, October 1, at 6:30 p.m.. The event will be held in the Perini Lecture Hall at Saint Anselm College and is free and open to the public. Chiang is a professor of anesthesiology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He also specializes in Buddhist and alternative healing techniques and is the co-author of "Buddhist Healing Touch: A Self-Care Program for Pain Relief and Wellness." A reception will follow the lecture.

The Goffstown Parks & Recreation is offering a Women’s Fitness Program this fall! Christine Lewis, a certified personal trainer with Total Image, will be instructing a
Womens Fitness program at the Recreation Center. Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. starting October 7th. Cost is $80 for 8 classes. The fitness program will consist of a variety of cardio, kickboxing, light running, pilates, core and strength training. The National Alliance on Mental Illness will be offering a free 12-week Family to Family Education Course in Bedford on Monday evenings, beginning Sept. 8, for family and friends of individuals with serious mental illness.
The curriculum focuses on current information about schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder, co=occurring brain disorders and addictive disorders.
It will balance education and skill training with self-care, emotional support and empowerment.

Babysitting Training: Participants of at least 11 years of age gain super child care skills. Attendance at both sessions (8/20 & 8/27) is required. $50 registration fee per person.
The course is designed for ages 11 to 15 and gives young people the skills and confidence to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. Through hands-on activities, interactive video and discussions, participants will learn to care for children, solve problems, handle emergencies, and write resumes and interview for babysitting jobs.
Taught by Sherri Litchfield, the two-day course costs $50 per student, and the library requires young people to sgn up ahead of time, due to enrollment requirements. Students may enroll by calling 774-3546, or emailing the libary at dunlib@gsinet.net
