Rosemary Conroy, a wildlife painter who lives in Weare, will host her fourth annual open studio Saturday, October 16, and Sunday, October 17, from noon to 4 p.m. each day.
Conroy is known for her colorful and highly textured portraits of local wildlife, and will have several new pieces on display this year.
Each year she donates a percentage of proceeds to benefit the Piscataquog Land Conservancy, to help it protect more habitat for wildlife.
In addition to exhibiting recent paintings, Conroy will sell framed reproductions, note cards and T-shirts at her woodland studio. The public is welcome.
For her first three open studios, close to 200 friends, neighbors and supports visited the nationally recognized artist.
"It's great fun to meet people who are interested in painting and wildlife and, of course, hear their reactions to my work," said Confoy. "And many people are curious about how an artist works and what a real working studio looks like."
Conroy is known for having co-hosted "Something Wild," on New Hampshire Public Radio for 10 years and for a nature column that she wrote for the New Hampshire Sunday News for several years. In 2008 New Hampshire Magazine named her one of the "renaissance Women of the Year" and featured her in their May issue. WMUR-TV's "New Hampshire Chronicle" has also profiled Conroy. She currently teaches painting at the Sharon Arts Center in Peterborough, as well as shows in their gallery.
