The New Boston Fire Department Auxiliary is sponsoring the Red Cross to host a winter blood drive. The Red Cross will be at the New Boston Central School gym on Monday, January 17th from 2 to 7 p.m. Please join us to donate and enjoy an assortment of homemade soups and chili as well as fabulous homemade desserts made by Auxiliary members. if you have never donated this will make a terrific New Years resolution- and you will feel great when you have achieved this one! The Red Cross reminds you: Hydrate, think iron and bring a postive ID. The basic requirements to donate are a minimum age of 17 (no maximum age), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health the day of your donation. You can donate every 56 days. Type O negative blood is always in high demand because it can be transfused to patients with any blood type, especially in emergency situations. Type O negatie donors are needed now to help prevent the blood supply from further decline. Eligible volunteer blood donors are asked to please call (800) RED CROSS (800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to find a blood drive and to make appoinments. if you are 17 years or older and in good health you may be able to donate.

The Nursing Home has partnered with the Manchester Regional Office of the American Red Cross to insure that all monetary donations raised will go directly to the relief effort. The American Red Cross is a legitimate organization with ninety-one cents of every dollar donated going to disaster relief, honoring donor intent. The bake sale is open to the public and will be held in the employee cafeteria from 10 AM-4PM on Tuesday. There will be baked goods and coffee available. There will also be a fifty-fifty raffle, and several small raffles as well.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Red Cross that day as well can do so by cash or making a check out to American Red Cross (memo International Relief Effort)
