Gingerbread Houses at St. Anselm College Open To Public

It’s holiday time once again, and at St. Anselm College that means dozens and dozens of gingerbread houses and a massive Christmas tree right in the middle of Davison Dining Hall.  400 students divided into 100 teams are given the same Gingerbread House kit and 2 hours of building time.  1,000 pounds of candy, 500 pounds of royal icing and 2 hours later, “It’s amazing how different they all are in the end!” exclaims Catering Manager Courtney Bogaert.  The completed houses, and cars, and sports stadiums, and cartoon characters, are all displayed under the giant Christmas Tree in Davison Hall through the end of the semester.  Voting is carefully supervised, and only members of the St. Anselm community are allowed to cast a ballot.  Winners receive $400, second place receives $200 and third place $100.  This year’s winners will be announced on Friday, December 9.  Davison Hall is open to the public, Monday through Friday 7am to 7pm, and weekends 7am to 6pm.

Goffstown Police Special Olympics Benefit

Goffstown Police to run in mini torch run through town 5/26 @ 9AM to seek donations from local businesses.

Officers from the Goffstown Police Department will be participating in the Mini Special Olympic Torch Run through Pinardville and the Main Street  on May, 26, 2010, starting at 9:00 a.m.  Officers will be soliciting donations from local businesses as they run to each location to support Special Olympics.  The run will start in the Daniel Plummer area, through Pinardville and then head to Main Street.   This is an annual event to benefit NH Special Olympics and Team Uncanoouc.

Team Uncanoonuc Afternoon on the Ice

Goffstown and Bedford Special Olympics/Dreamcatchers were invited to a very special event at the Verizon Center this past Friday.  Skating stars from the Disney On Ice production took the club members out onto the ice for private lessons, treated them to cookies and cupcakes, and hosted a private photo session with the Princess.  The Verizon then donated 60 tickets to the organization for the Friday night show.  On behalf of the Special Olympics and the greater Goffstown and Bedford communities, The Goffstown Edge would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Verizon for such a memorable afternoon!
