The Civic Leadership Academy (CLA) will host its annual summer program for New Hampshire high school students July 16-24, 2010. Applications are due by April 30, 2010, and can be downloaded here. Applicants will be notified in early May.
This is a one-week, residential summer program for New Hampshire high school students interested in learning more about state and local government and politics. Students learn from Saint Anselm faculty, as well as from those with first-hand knowledge of the civic, electoral and governing process.
Students must be 16 years old by the start of the program to be eligible. Applications can be downloaded online at

"This is a wonderful program for the young people of our state who are interested in government and politics," said the program's executive director, Neil Levesque. "under the guidance of outstanding Saint Anselm faculty members, students discover how our state and local governments operate, and they are given the opportunity to interact with those who are currently influencing our communities."
Participants study the structure and core functions of New Hampshire's state and local governments, public policy issues, key players in civic life, and principles and models of civic leadership. Students also participate in field trips and evening social events, with the goal of empowering then as future state leaders.
in addition, students are given the chance to meet and hear from New Hampshire's current public, private , and non-profit sector leaders. Past guests speakers have included Gov. John Lynch, former Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta, Supreme Court Justice John Broderick and former New Hampshire Speaker of the House Donna Sytek.
