St. Anselm College Hosts Electation Debates

WMUR-TV and the New Hampshire Union Leader will produce debates from the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm in Goffstown this fall.

These debates, titled "The Granite State Debates," will each last one hour and will be moderated by a WMUR anchor, featuring questions from WMUR and Union Leader journalists.  The debates will include candidates in the gubernatorial, U.S. Senate and two congressional district races.

There are no tickets available for these events; however, the debates will be broadcast on WMUR and streamed live on WMUR.com and UnionLeader.com

The broadcast schedule is as follows:

General election debates

• Monday, October 25, 7 p.m.- first Congressional District debate
• Tuesday, October 26, 7 p.m.- second Congressional District debate
• Wednesday, October 27, 7 p.m.- gubernatorial debate
• Thursday, October 28, 7 p.m.- U.S. Senate debate

Weare Democrats Re-elect Officers, Make Plans for 2010

 
Weare Democrats gathered at the Holy Cross Episcopal Church on March 6th to conduct their biannual caucus, which included much spirited discussion of local issues and strategies to ensure strong leaders will be elected at the local and state levels in 2010 and beyond.
 
The meeting culminated in the re-election of all four incumbent officers, including Derek Winsor, chair; Ellen Dokton, vice-chair; Lee Marcroft, secretary; and Susan Winsor, treasurer.  Additionally, two delegates-at-large to the New Hampshire Democratic Convention were selected.
 
“I am delighted to continue to collaborate with my fellow town officers and fellow Weare residents, to work towards improving New Hampshire and setting lofty goals for 2010,” said Winsor.
 
Added Marcroft, “We look forward to encouraging Weare Democrats and progressive-minded Independents to join in our grassroots political efforts.”
 
Due to their shared state representative district, Weare will work with Goffstown and conduct joint town committee meetings.  The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 19th, with further details being announced closer to the meeting.

Democrats Meet To Elect Officers

Weare Democrats will meet Saturday, March 6, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 118 Center Road, Weare, to elect town Democratic officers and delegates to the New Hampshire Democratic party state convention.
Goffstown Democrats will meet at 1 p.m. later that day at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church at 3 N. Mast Road in Goffstown to hold their caucus.  "We encourage all registered Democrats to attend our caucuses and to help set the party's course for the fall elections," said Derek Winsor, the Weare Democratic committee chairman.  "Goffstown and Weare Democrats and Independents are excited about working hard to elect great leaders for our state and local communities.  These caucuses provide a great opportunity for anyone who wants to help continue the state on the path to economic recovery," said Kevin Hodges, state representative from Goffstown.
